Mumbai Indians and Delhi Daredevils met in the Wankhede Stadium looking to earn their first win in the IPL 2018.
Delhi Daredevils won the toss and chose to bowl first. DD brought in Dan Christian and Jason Roy in, while Mumbai brought in Hardik and Akila Dananjaya.
Evin Lewis opened with a surprise in Suryakumar Yadav and the duo took the DD bowlers to cleaners. MI scored 84 runs in first 6 overs and were 102 in 9th over when Evin Lewis fell to Rahul Tewatia for 48 and then Tewatia removed Suryakumar Yadav for 53 (7 fours and 1 six). Ishan Kishan smashed it all around for his 44 off 23 balls, before he was bowled by Christian and Pollard followed him on the next ball.
DD bowlers didn’t let the Pandya brothers blast off in the last overs and though MI was poised for atleast 220; were stopped to 194/7. Dan Christian (2/35) was the best DD bowler.
Twitter liked the way MI batted and tweeted in appreciation.
Here are some tweets:
Suryakumar Yadav played a duck-ramp shot for four off Tent Bolt????????????????. Tells me everything I need to know about how batting skill has accelerated in the modern game. How can critics say there’s only power and little skill in T20 batting?— ian bishop (@irbishi) April 14, 2018
The way #delhi bowlers have gone about their business... it looks like a perfect charity game. Anyone can get hit in this format... but what areas you are bowling is important. Just a thought as a bowler! #MIvDD #VIVOIPL— Prragyan Ojha (@pragyanojha) April 14, 2018
Seen @surya_14kumar bat in close quarters during the recently concluded @T20Mumbai tournament where he Piled up close to 250 runs in 7 matches. Looked in great touch. Good to see him carrying on the fine form in the IPL as well @mipaltan #MIvDD— Hemang Badani (@hemangkbadani) April 14, 2018
If u batting 7 times in wankhede stadium more often thn not u will score runs. Such a great batting strip with even bounce— Irfan Pathan (@IrfanPathan) April 14, 2018
