In what has come as a major setback for Kolkata Knight Riders, their young pace sensation Kamlesh Nagarkoti has been ruled out of the ongoing IPL due to a foot injury. The 18-year-old will now be replaced by Karnataka speedster Prasidh Krishna.

As per reports, Nagarkoti picked up the injury before the start of the tournament and the wary franchise had summoned Prasidh as a backup option and even played him in the two practice matches where he fared well.

KKR, who invested heavily in bagging the services of the 19-year-old in this year's mega-auction by shelling out INR 3.2 crore, has become even thinner with their bowling resources. The franchise has already lost Mitchell Starc as well due to a foot injury and now Nagarkoti's injury has made the KKR bowling attack look all the slimmer.

Mitchell Johnson was benched due to an injury in the game against CSK and Jason Searles is also yet to get a game. With Vinay Kumar putting up a bad performance against CSK, KKR had Nagarkoti as his ideal replacement. However, his injury now means that Shivam Mavi is the option that the franchise has if they want to replace Vinay Kumar.

KKR thus has the likes of Mitchell Johnson, Jason Searles, Tom Curran, Shivam Mavi as their specialist pacers along with Andre Russell as their specialist all-rounder.

KKR play SRH at home tonight having lost their previous match against CSK in an away contest.
