Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) met in the 8th match of the IPL 2018. KXIP came into this game after mauling Delhi Daredevils in their first match, while KKR handed RCB a loss in their first game.

RCB captain Virat Kohli won the toss and elected to field first. KXIP skipper R Ashwin revealed that they had selected Aaron Finch in place of hard-hitting David Miller.

KL Rahul hit a brilliant 47 off 30 balls with 4 sixes and 2 fours before getting out to Washington Sundar. This he did amidst the carnage caused by Umesh Yadav, who picked up the wickets of Mayank Agarwal, Aaron Finch and Yuvraj Singh in the same over to leave KXIP 36/3 in 4 overs.

Karun Nair scored 29 off 26 balls before Khejroliya knocked his middle stump out. Marcus Stoinis hit 11 and was stumped by De Kock off Sundar and Akshar Patel got out for 2 runs, LBW by Khejroliya.

KXIP batting just collapsed after Umesh Yadav’s triple strikes and never recovered. KXIP finally finished on 155, thanks largely to a 33 runs innings from skipper R Ashwin.

BRIEF SCORES:
KXIP 155 (KL RAHUL 47, R ASHWIN 33; U YADAV 3/23)
