Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) would have suffered a dramatic loss at their home ground on Thursday night against Mumbai Indians (MI). But a calculated innings by Deepak Hooda in the death overs helped them win their second game.
Pulled down by Mayank Markande's four-wicket haul, SRH found themselves in an uneasy situation after their experienced players couldn't overcome the spinner.
Thankfully, it was Hooda, who showed maturity and played a sensible innings to avoid a loss for his team. The 22-year-old had grown a lot as a finisher and he had credited former India skipper MS Dhoni for a few positive changes in his batting.
Talking to cricket pundit Aakash Chopra, Hooda had told how Dhoni helped him understand the nuiance of finishing. "Mahi bhaiya told me agar tere paas 15 ball hai, 2 pe bhi badi hit maarega, baaki balls pe field manipulate karega fir bhi accha knock khel sakta hai," he said.
