Ravichandran Ashwin has been a gem over the years for India. He has always come across as a highly thinking cricketer. There's a reason why Ashwin is the only captain playing as the bowler in his side in this year's Indian Premier League. Kings XI Punjab has built their core around the leadership of this very calculative man.

Ashwin was outstanding in the team's opening encounter when he bowled his four overs for just 23  and picked up one wicket. Playing a substantial role in winning over Delhi Daredevils.

David Miller, the left hand South African big-hitting batsman, has come out and echoed the sentiment that the team under Ashwin is enjoying each other's company and he has huge respect for & belief in the "very calculative" man.

Talking about his captain in a media conference ahead of Kings XI's away game against the Royal Challengers Bangalore. Miller said, “From what I have gathered, he is very calculated. He thinks about the game very well. Every decision he makes, there is a reason why he does that,”

“So far it is pretty relaxed; he is pretty low key, letting guys do what they need to do. That is the most important thing. So far it has been good, and we have an exciting five weeks ahead. He knows a lot about the game and thinks a lot about the game.”

He was asked how different it is for a bowling skipper from batting captain. Miller said, “I’m not sure, you have to wait and see. It has only been one game. I don’t know if it makes so much of a difference if it is a fast bowler or a spin bowler, but so far he has been pretty good. Twenty20 is obviously quick and fast. The longer format is a lot more (demanding), the long spells that you bowl, the more you get tired.”
