Last night was Chennai Super Kings’ (CSK) homecoming to the Chepauk in Chennai after more than 1000 days. They celebrated the return with a thriller of a match against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by 5 wickets.

KKR posted 202/6 thanks to a scintillating 88* by Andre Russell, who smashed a record 11 sixes in his innings. Sam Billings hit 56 off 23 balls with 5 sixes and 2 fours to bring the game to 17 runs needed off the last over. Dwayne Bravo and Ravindra Jadeja finished the match with Jadeja hitting the 5th ball of the over for six.

Suresh Raina had an off day with 14 runs off 12 balls but was ecstatic at winning their first match on return to Chepauk. He tweeted, “A win at #Chennai infront of our fabulous home crowd, after more than a 1000 days. Calm & composed innings from @sambillings under pressure to take us over the line.
