Afghanistan all-rounder Mohammad Nabi, who represents Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the ongoing IPL 2018, is eyeing to contribute extensively with the bat in SRH’s cause in the T20 tournament.

However, he did not get a chance to play in the SRH's IPL opener on Monday (9 April), in which they crushed Rajasthan Royals (RR), but looking to bowl in the T20 extravaganza if he gets the opportunity.

Nabi told PTI, “(The) expectation is that our team will perform in the whole (entire) league. We have a new captain (in) Kane Williamson, who also played for last few years for SRH. In my opinion, my goal is to perform in batting, if I get chances and also perform in bowling.”

The 33-year-old right-hander, who is Afghanistan's fastest T20 fifty hitter at the moment, said that he would try his best to achieve a similar feat in the IPL. He added, “Yes, I will try my best, if I get a chance in batting, to get a fastest fifty in the IPL.”

On his bowling, Nabi, who bowls off spin, said, “First my bowling is very important for the team to put the opposition under pressure and then it is my batting.”

Commenting on SRH’s new skipper Kane Williamson, Nabi said he is a "nice man and a good captain and supports everyone".

There are total four players from Afghanistan in the 2018 IPL season, and Nabi is hoping to see more players in the tournament next season, as he believes that the Indian T20 league has aided experience to the Afghanistan cricketers, as well as, boosts their confidence level.

Nabi signed off by saying, “IPL has helped a lot (to Afghanistan cricket). Last year there were two Afghanistan players, this year there are four and hopefully six or seven next year. Because this experience (of the IPL) when we take back home, to the youngsters, or to the (training) academies or inside the national team, and the confidence level will be high.”
