After winning their respective first match of the ongoing Indian Premier League, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight locked horns with each other at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Tuesday (April 10).

The atmosphere at Chepauk was absolutely electrifying since it was Chennai’s first match in front of their home crowd after 3 years. CSK along with Rajasthan Royals were barred from the cash-rich Indian Premier League for the past two editions because of the corruption and fixing allegations against their respective owners.

After winning the toss, CSK skipper MS Dhoni opted to bowl first and veteran off-spinner Harbhajan Singh proved his captain right by dismissing the swashbuckling Sunil Narine in the second over for only 12. KKR didn’t manage to get going in the middle overs as most of the batsmen lost their wickets after being set. However, the maverick Caribbean all-rounder Andre Russell was in a different mood as he blasted his way to a breathtaking 88 off 36 balls. Kolkata eventually ended with a mammoth total of 202 on the board in their 20 overs.

Shane Watson picked 2 wickets for the CSK in his quota of 4 overs while Harbhajan, Jadeja and Thakur claimed wicket one wicket each.

Just like any other IPL encounter, Twitterverse was going berserk. Here are some of the top tweets lauding KKR’s stellar show with the bat:
