What a superb opening game we had on Saturday between Mumbai & Chennai where DJ Bravo fired in the end and took his side across the winning rope. At one time, CSK was nowhere in the game but came back with a bang when Bravo hit Bumrah for 3 sixes in his over. The Men in Yellow won the battle by just 1 wicket and just like the previous two years, MI lost their opening game again. Now it’s time for another big battle which is between Chennai & Kolkata. Both the squads are strong enough to provide a pure entertainer. On one end, where Dinesh Karthik is making his debut as a regular skipper in an IPL, MS Dhoni on the other end, would be confident after a victory in the first game.

Best economical pick – Nitish Rana was the star of the show for KKR against RCB, albeit with the ball in hand. None would have expected this to happen. Many questioned the move to hand the ball to Rana in the 15th over of the game. He was hit for a six and then he came back with two successive wickets of AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli. That certainly halted the run fest of RCB. Later in the game, he scored a crucial 34 off 25 deliveries to put KKR in a comfortable position in the run chase.

Top captains & vice captains – Dwayne Bravo hit a blazing 68 to help CSK pull off a thrilling chase and open the 2018 IPL season with a one-wicket win over Mumbai Indians. Bravo hit 3 fours and 7 sixes after coming in to bat in the 13th over of the innings with his side struggling at 75-5. Bravo took away 20 runs off the 18th over from New Zealand paceman Mitchell McClenaghan to set up an exciting finish as Super Kings needed 27 off 12 deliveries and Jadhav finished it off in style. Sunil Narine sashed a 17-ball fifty to lead the ideal comeback for his side. He finished with 50 off 19 deliveries on the day. Earlier, with the ball, he had returned with figures of 1/30 in four overs.

Smart pick – Dinesh Karthik looked very impressive in his first outing as a captain. His decision to hand the ball to a part timer in the 15th over reaped rich dividends for the team. Also, he played a very sensible knock in the run chase. He remained unbeaten on 35 off 29 deliveries with four boundaries to his name. He ensured that his side was over the line on the day.

Cautious Pick – Kedar Jadhav, who suffered a thigh strain in the middle of his innings in the opening game against Mumbai Indians will be out of action for a few weeks. So don’t pick him in your squad for this encounter.

My XI – Dwayne Bravo (Captain), Sunil Narine (Vice-Captain), Nitish Rana, Dinesh Karthik, Ambati Rayudu, Chris Lynn, Deepak Chahar,Kuldeep Yadav, Shane Watson, Andre Russell, Ravindra Jadeja
