The last over thriller between Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Mumbai Indians (MI) of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 opener has enjoyed by everyone, but fans failed to notice an encouraging thing of the Wankhede match, and that was MI skipper Rohit Sharma’s bat.

On Saturday (7 April), Dwayne Bravo’s last-minute heroics helped the returning franchise CSK to win the game by narrow 1-run in Mumbai that was celebrated by one and all, but Rohit’s special gesture, which was only noticed by former England cricketer – Kevin Pietersen, won the heart of this Englishman.

On his official Twitter handle on Saturday, Pietersen had posted a picture of Indian opener’s bat, where the CEAT ticket on his bat followed by the sticker of a Rhino. The 30-year-old is an animal lover and decided to use the IPL as a platform to promote SORAI (Save our Rhinos Africa & India).

His post reads, “‘Did you see the great man @ImRo45 with @SORAI2018 on his bat this eve? He’s as passionate as I am in saving our rhinos!”

This isn’t the first time when the right-hander has expressed his love for the rhinos, as he had earlier shared an image with the last living male Northern White Rhino – Sudan which was clicked in 2015, on Twitter in September last year.

He wrote, “Left a bit of my heart with this beauty, #Sudan, 2 years ago in Kenya – the last male Northern White Rhinoceros living today #StopPoaching”

Now, the MI will take on the hosts Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in their second match of the IPL 2018 on 12 April.
