Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) crushed Delhi Daredevils (DD) by 6 wickets on Sunday. It was KL Rahul who kicked-off host's chase with a blistering innings. Before DD could plan something to defend 167 runs, Rahul took the game away from them and made the task easy for KXIP.
Rahul smashed the fastest IPL fifty off just 14 balls. The Karnataka opener scored 16 runs off the pacer Trent Boult and 12 off Mohammed Shami's second over. Even spinner Amit Mishra wasn't spared from his heat, as he leaked 24 runs in the third over of Kings XI's innings.
Punjab mentor Virender Sehwag was delighted with Rahul's batting. He lauded the youngster on Twitter and wrote, "Rahul, naam toh suna hi hoga. Amazing hitting, and a 14 ball half century. Well begun boys #KXIPvDD".
Rahul's 51 runs innings included four sixes and six fours. He was accompanied by another Karnataka batsman Karun Nair (50 off 33b; 5x4, 2x6), who also scored a half ton.
