Sunrisers Hyderabad will open their campaign in IPL 2018 with the clash against Rajasthan Royals at home. Both the teams are fielding a new skipper after their regular captain David Warner and Steve Smith were banned from all forms of cricket for their role in ball-tampering scandal. SRH will be led by Kane Williamson, while Rajasthan Royals will be captained by Ajinkya Rahane. However the good thing about them is that they have got good depth in their squads and even in the absence of their regular skippers, there is no reason why these two teams can’t go the distance. They will be looking forward to a good beginning first of all as they lock horns with each other.

Best economical pick – Rahul Tripathi was a top draw in the IPL auctions this year. He got a lot of attention from the franchises owing to his exploits for the Rising Pune Supergiant last year. Tripathi, albeit relatively new to the IPL roster, already has a top score of 93 in the league. He is a hard-hitting batsman who will definitely get you a lot of points at a salary of just 8.

Top captains & vice captains – Kane Williamson is not new to the job of leading the team as the biggest challenge would be score runs with the bat. He is most likely to open the innings, the position which suits him very well. It will be important for him to stay in form throughout the tournament as he is occupying the spot of an overseas player being the leader of the side. Ajinkya Rahane is similar to his counterpart but has far lesser experience of being at the helm. He is a classy batsman and nobody must be doubting that fact. Rahane’s form with the bat will only help their cause big time.

Smart pick – Ben Stokes has been one of the most popular cricketers in the last couple of years. Also, his big price tag was the talking point last season. Stokes did not disappoint either and performed exceedingly well for the Supergiant including a ton last season. This year, the Royals would hope for similar returns from Stokes.

Cautious Pick – Alex Hales has been roped in for Warner, which certainly is a like-for-like replacement. But he might not get a place in Playing XI. Saha is more likely to end up taking that opening slot considering he’s got the experience and if he can play well, they can accommodate an extra foreign player in the all-rounders or bowling slots.

My XI – Kane Williamson (Captain), Ajinkya Rahane (Vice-Captain), Rahul Tripathi, Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Rashid Khan, Jaydev Unadkat, Deepak Hooda, Manish Pandey, Carlos Brathwaite
