Former New Zealand skipper Brendon McCullum on Sunday (April 8) said that he feels privileged to play alongside two of the greatest modern-day batsmen – AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

McCullum, who has previously represented as many as four different teams in IPL, was roped in by the RCB franchise for 3.60 crores during the auction in January this year.

Even though RCB lost their first match of the IPL 2018 season at the hands of Kolkata Knight Riders last night, McCullum took to micro-blogging site Twitter and wrote: “I know we didn’t win but it was amazing to play alongside @ABdeVilliers17 and @imVkohli today. Massive respect. Looking forward to this season that is for sure!”

Fondly known as Baz among the cricketing fraternity, Brendon McCullum played a scintillating knock of 43 runs in 27 balls against KKR at the iconic Eden Gardens. His innings was followed by a rapid 64 runs stand between skipper Kohli and batting maverick de Villiers as RCB posted a competitive total of 176/7 in their 20 overs.

However, Sunil Narine’s breathtaking 19-ball fifty proved to be too good for the Bangalore franchise as KKR chased down the target with 7 balls to spare.

RCB will now play their next game against the Kings XI Punjab on Friday (April 13).
