The much-awaited 11th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to start with a blockbuster encounter between the defending champions Mumbai Indians and the returning franchise Chennai Super Kings. Prior to the mouth-watering contest, the fans witnessed the opening ceremony of the cash-rich event at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan was the first performer of the evening followed by Prabhu Deva, who is affectionately called as India's Michael Jackson. Bollywood diva Tamannaah Bhatia exhibited her dance skills on popular songs from different languages whereas playback singer Mika Singh enthralled the spectators with some of his most famous numbers.

The last two performers who simply set the stage on fire were Jacqueline Fernandez and Hrithik Roshan. While Jacqueline danced on the tunes of her successful movies like Houseful and Kick, Hrithik moved his legs to some of his most renowned numbers like Dhoom, Ek Pal ka Jeena among others.

Amidst the performances from Bollywood stars, the visuals of all captain's taking the pledge to uphold the spirit of the game was also shown in the big screen. “I am committed to play by the rules of the game,” says the captain of Delhi Daredevils, Gautam Gambhir.

“I should respect all captains, my teammates and all my opposition,” said the newly appointed skipper of Kings XI Punjab.

“I should respect the umpire and games traditional values,” said KKR skipper Dinesh Karthik.

“Victory or defeat I shall accept all the decision of the officials with dignity,” MI skipper Rohit Sharma quoted.

“I shall lead the way by holding the idea of fair play,” said Rajasthan Royals skipper Ajinkya Rahane.

“I shall play to enjoy the game and look to inspire the next generation,” said RCB captain Virat Kohli.

“I promise to uphold the spirit of game at all times,” the SRH captain Kane Williamson stated.
