IPL 2018: Irfan Pathan picks his eleven for Mumbai Indians

Irfan tried to put a balanced eleven that he thinks will help Mumbai beat Chennai.

Irfan picked his best Mumbai Indians eleven for the first game vs CSK.

Irfan Pathan has been out of favour for the Indian Team for a while now and last played international cricket in 2012. Irfan has unfortunately been put from the IPL action too as he's not been able to find a buyer at the auctions.

He has been playing domestic cricket for Baroda, though. And announced recently that he'll be playing for Jammu & Kashmir from the next season as their mentor & player. He has been working in the capacity of a cricket expert for various platforms as well. One such platform is EspnCricinfo and ahead of the IPL, Irfan has come out and expressed his Mumbai Indians eleven in a video done for them for the first game of the season versus the Chennai Super Kings.

In his eleven, Irfan has put Rohit Sharma as the opener alongside Ishan Kishan the young left hand Jharkhand batsmen. There have been talks of Even Lewis being the likely choice for opening the innings and Rohit batting in the middle order to serve the balance of the team from the Mumbai Indians camp but Irfan reiterated his want to see Rohit at the right place.

Irfan also filled his middle order slots with JP Duminy at 3, the multidimensional Hardik Pandya at 4 as well as the explosiveness and the dual skill ability of Surya Kumar Yadav, Keirron Pollard and Krunal Pandya at 5,6 and 7.

Irfan being the bowler himself wanted to pick the best possible bowling combination for his eleven and from the Mumbai Indians squad he picked the fast bowlers Jasprit Bumrah to add proficiency at the death and Pat Cummins to bowl the tough lengths. For spin, he chose the young leg-spinner Rahul Chahar and the mystery of Akila Dhananjaya finds a place in Irfan's team too.
