The much-awaited 11th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) is all set to get underway on Saturday (April 7) night, with the defending champions Mumbai Indians taking on the Chennai Super Kings at the iconic Wankhede Stadium.

In order to motivate the Rohit Sharma-led MI side, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar conveyed an uplifting message for the players. Tendulkar, who is the icon of Mumbai Indians franchise since his retirement in 2013, said it’s a great motivation that the fans expect something from the three times IPL champions.

Taking to micro-blogging site Twitter, MI’s official Twitter page posted a video on Friday (April 6) and captioned it as: “Special words from the MI Icon! ???? @sachin_rt's wishes will surely boost the team. ???? #CricketMeriJaan”

In the video, Sachin said: “The pressure and expectation is there because we have delivered. Even the team will be looking forward to this season and it’s a good reputation to have. I would be slightly uncomfortable if I am crossing the line and I am walking out there in the middle and nobody is expecting anything from me.”

“I want people to expect something from me and that is what we want the crowd to expect from Mumbai Indians. Try our best, live upto our expectations and your expectations. Effort is what matters actually. So there is 100% guarantee that we will go out there and try our best,” he added.

Mumbai Indians are the most successful team in the IPL. They won its first IPL title in 2013 by defeating Chennai Super Kings in the final by 23 runs and repeated the triumph two years later by beating the same opponent with a margin of 41 runs. On 21 May 2017, MI won their third IPL title by defeating Rising Pune Supergiant in a thrilling final by 1-run and thus becoming the first team to win three IPL titles.
