Maharashtra batsman Rahul Tripathi grabbed headlines for his aggressive innings of the 93 runs off 52 balls for the Rising Supergiant against the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2017, where he finished with 391 runs at an average of 28, and his outstanding display forced the franchisees to bid high for the batsman at the IPL 2018 auctions.

In the IPL Auction 2018, Tripathi went into the hammer with a base price of Rs 20 Lakh, but the talented cricketer’s explosive batting in the last season forced Rajasthan Royals (RR) bid a whopping Rs 3.4 Crores to acquire his services for the big fat T20 tournament.

It is known that the IPL is not only a great platform for the youngsters to showcase their talent, but also gives opportunities to make money especially for whom that come from the middle-class background.

However, the 27-year-old admitted that the “money is being taken care of by his dad” but it wasn't really a big factor for him, as well as, insists that he will not let his recent success get to his head.

As per reports in Cricketnext, the all-rounder said, “I think the money is being taken care of by my dad. I am just happy to play as playing cricket is more important for me now. Yes, my parents were tracking the auction. They were happy that their son has gone to a good team. But they were like: 'Humare bete ka kya hoga, kaunse team me jayega' but eventually, they were very happy the way the auction panned out for me. ”

He further added, “IPL is a great opportunity for youngsters like us to go out and play some of the finest bowlers in international cricket. I just wanted to repeat the way I played last year. So the money wasn't a big factor for me. For me, it was an opportunity to play at such a big stage and get recognized for it.”

On being asked about his strategy for the coming season, the right-hander said, “No particular strategy, I just prepared myself to play according to the ball. Didn't think much like 'I need to do this or that.' I just practiced hard and knew what shot I wanted to play. I just concentrated on the ball better and how the ball will come onto the bat. That's it.”

Like any other budding cricketer, he is also eyeing Indian Team berth through performing well in the IPL 2018. Tripathi signed off by saying, “Yes, I am going to work hard this time. And definitely, if I keep performing well, then who knows I will soon get the opportunity to represent my country.”
