After spending a decade with Mumbai Indians in the Indian Premier League, the new decade of the league will see Harbhajan Singh play for Chennai Super Kings under the captaincy of Mahendra Singh Dhoni. The ex Indian teammates would like to recreate the magic of their partnership while they play together at CSK.
April 7 will see Chennai Super Kings and Mumbai Indians lock horns at the Wankhede Stadium. Harbhajan's story this year will be a bit different though. He will now be seen donning the yellow jersey and bowling to his former teammates including the likes of Rohit Sharma, Kieron Pollard and the Pandya brothers.
Harbhajan is currently at Mumbai training with his CSK teammates at the Wankhede. “It’ll be a game filled with emotions for me given that this was my home ground for the first 10 seasons,” the 37-year-old Sardar said on the sidelines of team practice.
“As a professional, however, these are things that one needs to overcome and deliver, and that’s what I will be looking to do,” Harbhajan added.
“CSK and MI have always had great games and as players that’s what one looks forward to as it gives one immense satisfaction in proving in these matches,” Harbhajan stated.
“From one strong team to another strong team, it’s a new journey and with a new jersey number 27. I’m just going to go with the flow and see how it turns out.”
“It wasn’t one season but 10 years and obviously I know the kind of cricket that they play, but then it’s no secret because with every team playing each other over the years, each knows how the other approach the game, the brand of cricket that they play,” Harbhajan continued.
“Obviously having been a part of the think-tank I guess I know more than most about how MI plays... The bottom line remains that one needs to play better that them to beat them and CSK have the team to beat them."
“It’s a big game and I can tell our CSK fans that we will give our best,” he concluded.
Harbhajan was a part of three IPL titles with Mumbai Indians of which two finals were against Chennai Super Kings, his new IPL franchise this year.
