IPL 2018: Kolkata Knight Riders names Tom Curran as replacement for injured Mitchell Starc for IPL 11

Mitchell Starc was bought for Rs 9.4 cr by KKR.

Starc was supposed to make his return to IPL after two years of absence

The much awaited IPL season 11 will begin from April 7, 2018, and every team is vying for the trophy. The IPL 2018 will see the return of Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals to the fold, and the competition is going to get much tougher.

It was reported that Mitchell Starc will miss the IPL 11 due to injury and KKR have named a replacement for Starc. The replacement is England fast bowler Tom Curran.

Two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) had bought Mitchell Starc for Rs 9.4 cr in order to strengthen their fast bowling attack, something that had plagued him in last few seasons. However, Starc suffered an injury to his right foot and was ruled out of the South Africa-Australia Test series and the IPL 2018.

The 23-year-old England fast bowler made his international debut in June 2017 in a T20I against South Africa. In 51 T20 matches, he has 53 wickets at a strike rate of fewer than 20. This will be the first time that Curran is representing a team outside of England or his county.

Starc became the fifth Australian after Nathan Coulter-Nile, Jason Behrendorff (both injuries), David Warner and Steve Smith to miss IPL 2018.
