Rajasthan Royals have clarified that they haven't taken a call on Steve Smith, after some reports emerged of him being sacked as the leader of the franchise for IPL 2018. In a media release, Rajasthan Royals stated that they will wait for instructions from BCCI before deciding the future of Steve Smith.

“We have been made aware of the controversy of ball tampering in the ongoing Australia - South Africa series and await further instructions from BCCI, before we make any announcement. We at Rajasthan Royals will not tolerate any actions that are unfair by definition and bring disrepute to the game of cricket. Our Zero tolerance policy applies to everyone in our team. Please bear with us," Ranjit Barthakur, Executive Chairman, Rajasthan Royals said in the press release.

Steve Smith has been handed a one-match suspension and fined 100% of his match fees by ICC for his involvement in the collective decision to tamper with the ball on the third day in order to get more reverse swing. He received four demerit points for the offence.

Cameron Bancroft has been fined 75% of his match fees and received three demerit points for using a foreign object on the ball.
