Former Australia all-rounder Shane Watson on Monday (February 12) expressed his delight on the prospect of representing Chennai Super Kings in the next edition of India Premier League (IPL). The 36-year-old also added that it will be a real honour for him to play under the leadership of legendary MS Dhoni.

CSK will make a return to the cash-rich league after completing the two-year termination. Chennai Super Kings along with Rajasthan Royals were barred from the IPL for the past two editions because of corruption and fixing allegations against their respective owners.

“It is going to be a real honour to play for such a great franchise with the history that the Chennai Super Kings have, and the thought of playing under the great MS Dhoni excites me a lot,” Watson quoted as saying by the CSK website.

Watson has represented Rajasthan Royals between 2008 and 2015 besides playing for Royal Challengers Bangalore in the last two seasons. No wonder, the ace all-rounder feels it will be a little strange for him to don the yellow jersey.

“It is going to be a little strange initially as CSK were one of Rajasthan’s big rivals which started way back in the first year of the IPL. But it won’t take that long to subside,” said Watson.

The veteran all-rounder also made it clear that he is as motivated as ever to be a part of this wonderful game.

“I still absolutely love playing the game, which is an easy motivation in itself. I still love the thrill of the unknown of every game and I am extremely competitive and so I have no problem with motivation at all for each game,” he added.

During the IPL retention last month, CSK had retained the services of three of their marquee players MS Dhoni, Suresh Raina and Ravindra Jadeja. Watson feels the trio will again prove to be the instrumental figures for the two times IPL champions CSK.

“Any CSK squad with Dhoni, (Suresh) Raina and (Ravindra) Jadeja as a starting point is going to be incredibly good and is always going to compare really well to the previous years,” concluded Watson.
