IPL 2018: Rajiv Shukla not bothered by criticism about IPL

Former Inddian skipper, Bishen Singh Bedi alleged that IPL is a platform for money laundering.

Indian Premier League (IPL) Chairman –Rajiv Shukla is not worried and distracted by the critics about the lucrative T20 league, saying many eyeballs have always been increasing every season.  

Bishen Singh Bedi recently alleged that IPL is a platform for money laundering, questioning on the source of the big bucks being spent during the IPL auction in Bengaluru for the coming season of the T20 league.

According to Press Trust of India, Rajiv Shukla told reporters on the sidelines of the second day of the IPL Actions 2018 in Bengaluru, “Let them (including Bedi) say whatever they want. Every year, eyeballs for IPL are increasing. Viewership is going up and revenues are increasing.”

Shukla signed off by saying, “If you remember, all our former players benefited from the IPL. They have been given one-time benefit. They all have taken that. Bedi should remember this.”

Meanwhile, Rajasthan Royals Chairman and CEO –Ranjit Barthakur also lashes out at critics and said everyone should be careful about making such statements in public regarding the T20 league, adding “India is very liberal with freedom of speech.”

Barthakur concluded by saying, “I just think we must also be responsible when we speak and not gain eyeballs. We will continue to respect him but we do not want to see him make such statements.”
