With the auctions for the upcoming season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 is scheduled to get underway on Saturday, Mumbai Indians (MI) would definitely like to use their two Right to Match cards (RTM) on Kieron Pollard and Krunal Pandya or Mitchell McClenaghan and Jos Buttler.

The three-time IPL champions have already retained the trio of Rohit Sharma, Hardik Pandya and death bowler specialist Jasprit Bumrah by using the player retention option for IPL 2018.

Now, all eyes are on the IPL Auction to be held on 27th and 28th January in Bengaluru, and the defending champions find themselves in a dilemma like other franchisees over who to retain. The rest of the franchisees too will be ready with their options at the auctions.

Mumbai will definitely want Pandya to be in their squad, and they might go for him with the RTM in the auction, and former India coach Anil Kumble also felt same.

He told on Gameplan –a show on Star Sports, “Krunal Pandya is a left-hander who floats, bowls spin and is a good fielder. So he is an ideal uncapped player whom Mumbai will want to retain. But the question is the bucket under which he falls for them, which will determine if he is brought in via the RTM.”

Kumble signed off by saying, “It is very difficult to your combinations right at the auctions, especially with the RTMs, as others will go after your key players. Considering Mumbai are the defending champions, the rest of the teams will be looking at champion players.”
