The Indian premier league has been the best platform which has launched many cricketing careers of young cricketers. It has given them a chance to play with the best of the cricketing world and test and enhance their skills on the biggest stage of them all.

Virat Kohli, Manish Pandey, and many other U19 players were included in the 2008 IPL via a player draft and have gone on to make a big name for themselves for India and in IPL.

With the new crop of U19 players doing India proud in the ongoing ICC U19 World Cup, let’s have a look at the top 5 U19 stars who can make a big fortune in the upcoming auctions.

Check out the shortlisted players:

PRITHVI SHAW

Prithvi Shaw is on a role with two half-centuries in the first two matches of the ongoing ICC U19 World Cup 2018 in New Zealand. He scored 94 and 57* against Australia U19 and PNG U19. Shaw had a brilliant start to his First-Class career, scoring centuries on Ranji and Duleep Trophy debuts and has 5 centuries from 9 First-Class matches in his short career so far.

Shaw has been compared to little master Sachin Tendulkar with respect to their playing styles and Shaw has been the shiniest star on the Indian cricketing horizon. IPL will be a good platform for Shaw to show that he can score runs in the shortest format of the game, against the best bowlers that international cricket can throw against him.

He will be on the list of must buy cricketers list of every IPL franchise in the upcoming auction in 2018.

KAMLESH NAGARKOTI

Kamlesh Nagarkoti impressed everyone with his pace and swing in the first match of the ICC U19 World Cup in New Zealand against Australia U19. He regularly clicked over 145 kmph and swung the ball, keeping the Aussie batsmen guessing.

Nagarkoti first came into prominence, when picked up his first List-A hat-trick for Rajasthan against Gujarat in last year’s Vijay Hazare Trophy. All three of his hat-trick victims were bowled and it included current Indian bowling sensation Jasprit Bumrah.

Any franchise which will pick up Nagarkoti in the IPL 2018 auction will get a young, genuine quick bowler who will be eager to learn from the best and put it in practice when he gets a chance to play in the tournament.

SHUBMAN GILL

Shubman Gill is exceptionally talented

Shubman Gill has been one of the best batsmen for India U19 recently. Gill was the Man of the series in the 5 match Youth ODI series against England in England some time back and also played two First-Class matches for Punjab in the recent edition of the Ranji Trophy. He scored a century and a fifty in the two matches.

India U19 vice-captain Gill hit 63 in the first match of the ICC U19 World Cup 2018 against Australia and helped India U19 scored over 300 runs. Gill has been in good form and is known for having a good technique with a touch of aggression to his game.

Getting picked up by a team in the IPL 2018 will prove to be a great experience for Gill and he will get a chance to show his caliber against the best bowlers in the world. Any franchise picking him up will also find a young, aggressive top-order batsman for the playing XI in the upcoming IPL season.

SHIVAM MAVI

Uttar Pradesh’s express fast bowler Shivam Mavi has been brilliant for the Indian U19 team in the ongoing ICC U19 World Cup 2018. He has picked 5 wickets in first two matches of the tournament and played a big role in 100 run win over Australia U19 in the first match, where he picked 3/45.

Mavi regularly hit the speeds of 140+ kmph while bowling for the Indian U19 team. He will be a good addition to any team in the IPL 2018 and franchises will be eager to add a young, express pace bowler in their arsenal, who can provide them with some serious aggression to the bowling lineup.

ISHAN POREL

Ishan Porel is one of the best young fast bowlers in India today

Bengal’s Ishan Porel impressed everyone with his pace during the recently held Ranji Trophy season. The 19-year-old quick bowler regularly hit the speeds of 145 kmph during the 3 matches he played. Porel ended up picking 13 wickets in the 3 matches with best figures of 5/32 against Punjab.

He also picked up 4/23 in the practice match against South Africa of the ICC U19 World Cup 2018. Porel was brilliant for India U19 on the Youth England tour where he picked 2 wickets, but was impactful with the ball at the start of the innings, rattling the opposition batsmen with his pace.

Porel played in the first match of the ICC U19 World Cup against Australia U19 but suffered a foot injury. However, he will be a person of interest when it comes to the upcoming IPL 2018 auction in January. Porel’s pace can be the X-factor for any franchise which picks him up in the IPL auction.
