IPL 2018 Player retention kick starts the IPL fever in India, with the mega auction of players to follow later in the month.
Delhi Daredevils have become the first franchise to unveil their player retentions for the upcoming season of IPL 2018.
The Delhi franchise has been one of the most unlucky franchises which have never managed to reach the finals of the tournament. They have reached the final four on many occasions, but since the last 2-3 seasons they have failed to make the top four as well.
The Delhi team announced a new head coach for the upcoming season with former Australian captain and Mumbai Indians coach Ricky Ponting donning the hat. Ponting won the IPL as the coach from 2014-2016, winning the title in 2015.

Now, they have decided to retain the mix of young and foreign players in order to set a better foundation for the auctions.
Delhi Daredevils CEO Hemant Dua has announced that the Delhi franchise has decided to retain Rishab Pant, Shreyas Iyer and South African Chris Morris.

Rishab Pant was the X-factor for them in the last season as he played 2-3 deciding innings for the Delhi team. Shreyas Iyer was another player who made quite an impact in IPL 2017, which resulted in him getting a place in the Indian team recently.
South African Chris Morris was the best buy for Delhi team in the last auctions as he not only shouldered the bowling duties, but provided a balance to the Delhi team.
