IPL 2022: WATCH – Riyan Parag argues with R Ashwin after getting run-out in Qualifier 1 against GT

Parag got run-out after a mix-up with Ashwin in the last over of RR's innings.

Riyan Parag and R Ashwin | ScreengrabRajasthan Royals (RR) all-rounder Riyan Parag on Tuesday (May 24) hogged the headlines for venting out his frustration on teammate R Ashwin after getting run-out in the IPL 2022 Qualifier 1 at the Eden Gardens, Kolkata.

During the final over of RR’s innings, Ashwin left alone a wide delivery from Yash Dayal. However, Parag felt there could be a run and he rushed to the striker’s end, where Ashwin didn’t move an inch.

GT wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha collected the ball and lobbed it back to the bowler who inflicted the run-out. The dismissal left Parag infuriated as he started arguing with Ashwin for not responding to his call.

This was not the first time Parag found himself in the middle of a controversy in this year’s IPL. He was involved in a heated argument with RCB players Harshal Patel and Mohammed Siraj earlier in the season. He also landed himself in hot water by taking a dig at the third umpire during the match against LSG last week.

Coming to the Qualifier 1, RR posted 188/6 in their 20 overs on the back of Jos Buttler’s 56-ball 89 and skipper Sanju Samson’s 26-ball 47.

In reply, GT rode on David Miller’s unbeaten 68 off 38 balls and captain Hardik Pandya’s 40* off 37 balls to overhaul the target with seven wickets in hand and three deliveries to spare.
