Delhi Capitals (DC) spinner Kuldeep Yadav on Thursday (28th April) talked about his match-winning performance against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). He said that he’s mentally strong than before and is not scared of failing now.

Kuldeep yet again shined for DC in their win over KKR in Match 41 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. The Chinaman bowler returned with exceptional figures of 4/14 and helped his team register their fourth win of the season.

Kuldeep removed the likes of Shreyas Iyer (42), Baba Indrajith (6), Sunil Narine (0) and Andre Russell (0) to help DC restrict KKR to a total of just 146 runs, which they chased with one over to spare.

His heroics not only won the match for DC but also earned him the Player of the Match award. Notably, this was Kuldeep’s fourth Player of the Match award this season. He now has 17 wickets and is only behind Yuzvendra Chahal, who has 18 scalps, in the Purple Cap list.

Speaking at the post-match presentation, Kuldeep Yadav said that more than a better bowler he has become mentally strong and is not scared of failing.

“I might have become a better bowler, but I am mentally stronger than before. When you fail in life you pick what you can improve on and that is something I had to improve on. I don’t get scared of failing now,” Kuldeep Yadav said.

Kuldeep said that among all his wickets, he liked the wicket of Andre Russell as he set him up. He explained that he’s enjoying his bowling and his focus is only on bowling tight lines and lengths.

“I liked Russell’s wicket as I set him up, it was my plan and when there were a couple of dots I knew he would step out. This is the best IPL season for me. I am enjoying my bowling. I don’t think what the batter will do and what if I get hit. My focus has been to bowl the right line and lengths,” he said.

Kuldeep talked about Shreyas Iyer's wicket and also said that he has no competition with Purple Cap holder Yuzvendra Chahal, who has always backed and motivated him.

“I felt there was a bat but thought the ball had touched the ground but when Rishabh went up then I was positive, it was an important wicket as Shreyas was batting well.

“There has never been competition with him (Chahal). He’s like my big brother and has always backed me. He kept motivating me when I was injured and I hope he wins the Purple Cap,” he said.
