KL Rahul likely to end his 4-year stint with Punjab Kings ahead of IPL 2022: Report

KL Rahul was signed by the Punjab-based franchise for a whopping 11 Crore ahead of the IPL 2018 auction.

KL Rahul | BCCI/IPLPunjab Kings (PBKS) skipper KL Rahul is likely to part ways with his current franchise ahead of the 2022 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL).

Rahul has been leading PBKS since 2020 and has failed to take the side into the playoffs. He had replaced R Ashwin as Punjab’s captain ahead of IPL 2020 after the veteran spinner was traded to Delhi Capitals (DC).

While Rahul has been doing wonders with the bat, Punjab Kings have failed to gel as a unit and have finished outside the top four under his leadership.

According to a Cricbuzz report, Rahul will not turn up for PBKS in IPL 2022 and is likely to be up for grabs in the mega auction ahead of the next season. The report further states that a few franchises have shown interest in buying him at IPL 2022 mega auction.

It is also undersold that discussions have taken place behind the scenes to ensure Rahul's departure from Punjab Kings is an 'amicable one' for both parties.

KL Rahul was signed by Punjab Kings (then Kings XI Punjab) for a whopping 11 Crore ahead of the IPL 2018 auction after he was released by his former franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore. He has since been their most consistent performer, churning out runs season after season.

Rahul had amassed 659 runs in 2018 and piled up 593 runs in the following season. The right-hander finished with 670 runs in IPL 2020 and has 626 runs to his name in the ongoing season.
