IPL 2021: Fans react to CSK skipper MS Dhoni's turtle-paced knock against Delhi Capitals

Dhoni scored 18 off 27 balls while batting at No. 6 position.

MS Dhoni | BCCI/IPLChennai Super Kings (CSK) skipper MS Dhoni has been struggling with his batting form in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. He preferred to bat mostly at No. 6 and 7 in the ongoing tournament but hasn't found much success.

Since CSK have got a very strong batting unit, Dhoni’s services with the willow weren’t needed in the previous games. However, the 40-year-old had to come out to bat in the 9th over against Delhi Capitals (DC) on Monday (October 4) as Chennai’s top-order endured a rare failure.

While Dhoni added 70 runs for the fifth wicket with Ambati Rayudu to bail his team out of trouble, the CSK captain looked a shadow of his vintage self.

Dhoni made only 18 and took 27 balls to score those runs. During his stay at the crease, he played 10 dot balls and failed to hit a single boundary that once again highlighted his lack of match practice.

Notably, MS Dhoni had retired from international cricket in August last year and he doesn’t play domestic cricket to fine-tune his batting skills. He was out of action after the first phase of IPL 2021 was suspended due to COVID-19 earlier this year.

For his turtle-paced knock against DC, Dhoni became a topic of discussion on Twitter. While some fans trolled him by terming India's best Test batsman, a few of them expressed disappointment over his current form.
