IPL 2021: Ajay Jadeja says picking Williamson over Warner as SRH skipper is a 'no brainer'

SRH decided to replace David Warner with Kane Williamson as captain.

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) recently sacked David Warner as their skipper and appointed New Zealand's Kane Williamson to lead their side for the rest of the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League (IPL 2021).

SRH have had a disappointing tournament so far as they just one win to their name in 6 games played and are at the bottom of the table. Thus, former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja felt it was an obvious move by the franchise.

Anyone who is following cricket for a period of time will tell you that between the two, Williamson is a better choice as captain. Warner is a great batsman and he has also led the Sunrisers to victory in the past but it is a no-brainer as to who is a better choice as skipper,Jadeja told Cricbuzz.

According to some unconfirmed reports, there has been some tension brewing between the Australian batsman and SRH team management over selection issue with captain not having much of a say in deciding the final XI.

It was evident that SRH is being controlled by someone from the outside – coach, management, whoever. But the captain Warner was not in full control. He himself stated that the selection of the final XI is not done by him so he does not have a complete say in it,” the 50-year-old said.

After losing to Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 7 wickets, the Hyderabad-based franchise will be taking on Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals (RR) on Sunday (2 May) at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.

Thus, it will be interesting to see whether this change in leadership changes fortunes for the ‘Orange Army’.
