Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) all-rounder Andre Russell has been a huge asset for the franchise. He is known for pulling off chases out of nowhere and put the team into a winning situation with his explosive batting.

Ex-KKR captain Dinesh Karthik talked about the memorable knock of Russell in the IPL 2019 against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB). IPL 2019 was the Caribbean all-rounder's best season with the bat. He had a strike-rate of 204.81 and an average of 56.66; ending the tournament with 510 runs.

Recalling the destructive knock of 13-ball 48* runs against RCB, Karthik said it was a treat to watch Russell snatching the game from the jaws of Bangalore when they needed an unreachable looking 53 runs off 18 balls.

"Andre Russell... in 2019 batted the best he's ever batted in his career. Some of the innings he played, he single-handedly won the game for us," Karthik said in a video on ESPNCricinfo.

Russell had smashed 7 sixes and a four in his 13-ball stay as KKR won the match by 5 wickets, chasing 206, with five deliveries left.

"I very vividly remember one over when some bowler started it, and he got injured after one ball. Comes in Marcus Stoinis… my god, the way he hit Stoinis and that’s where things started. And then he took out Southee. These two overs and in a span of 10-11 balls, he hit six or five sixes, I’m not sure, completely changed the game," Karthik added.

"Till about 16 overs, which is about 36 overs of this game, RCB were all the way up and running. They were killing it. But just that point, in walks Andre Russell and the way he batted was just an absolute treat to watch him."
