Mumbai Indians clinched their fifth IPL title with a five-wicket win over Delhi Capitals in the final.

Mumbai Indians won the IPL 2020 | IPL/BCCIThe 13th edition of Indian Premier League (IPL) finally came to an end with Mumbai Indians (MI) clinching the title with a five-wicket win over Delhi Capitals (DC) in the final at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday (November 10).

After the triumph, MI speedster Jasprit Bumrah said that the side wanted to break the jinx of winning the title every two years.

The Mumbai-based franchise had earlier won the tournament in 2013, 2015, 2017, and 2019.

"Very happy, we have worked hard, we started preparing before others, we worked through the process. We wanted to break the jinx of winning every two years. Very happy as a team. It means a great deal, the pandemic has been such a shock, we are just grateful to come back and play cricket, something we love," Bumrah told host broadcaster Star Sports after Mumbai Indians won their fifth IPL title.

Bumrah might have gone wicketless in the final, but he finished the tournament as second highest wicket-taker with 27 scalps from 17 games.

"We are just happy we could bring back some smiles to the people back home, it's been a tough few months. From the first game, I felt my rhythm was up, when I bowled the super over here, I felt I could execute against AB and Virat. Since then, my confidence went up, I just wanted to keep things simple and repeat the basics every time," said Bumrah.

Coming to the final, DC won the toss and posted 156/7 in 20 overs on the back of captain Shreyas Iyer’s unbeaten 65 off 50 balls and Rishabh Pant’s 38-ball 56.

Trent Boult was the stand-out bowler for MI, claiming 3 wickets by conceding 30 runs in his four overs.

In reply, Mumbai rode on skipper Rohit Sharma’s dazzling 51-ball 68 to overhaul the target with 8 balls to spare. Ishan Kishan (33 off 19 balls) and Quinton de Kock (20 off 12 balls) also made notable contributions with the bat.
