IPL 2020: Cricket fraternity reacts as DC bowlers restrict RR to 148/8 while defending 161

Delhi Capitals reclaimed the top spot on the points table with this victory.

Delhi Capitals registered their 6th win in the IPL 2020 (Source: IPL/BCCI)Delhi Capitals (DC) faced Rajasthan Royals (RR) in the 30th match of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 in Dubai on Wednesday (October 14).

Opting to bat first, DC posted 161/7 in 20 overs on the back of half-centuries from opener Shikhar Dhawan (57 off 33 balls) and Shreyas Iyer (53 off 43 balls).

Jofra Archer was the stand-out bowler for RR, claiming 3 wickets by conceding only 19 runs in his four overs.

In reply, Royals got off to a brisk start as the new opening duo of Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes added 37 runs in 3 overs. Anrich Nortje drew the first blood for Delhi by removing Buttler for 9-ball 22. Skipper Steve Smith (1 off 4 balls) had another poor outing with the bat.

Subsequently, Stokes and Sanju Samson shared a 46-run stand to bring the innings back on track. Unfortunately for Rajasthan, both Stokes (41 off 35 balls) and Samson (25 off 18 balls) got out in successive overs and they lost the plot.

Although Robin Uthappa scored 32 off 27 balls, the likes of Riyan Parag (1) and Rahul Tewatia (14 off 18 balls) failed to step up to the plate on this occasion as RR eventually managed 148/8 in 20 overs.

For the Capitals, Nortje (2-33) and Tushar Deshpande (2-37) picked up two scalps each while R Ashwin (1-17), Kagiso Rabada (1-28) and Akshar Patel (1-32) chipped in with wicket apiece.

Cricket experts lauded the Delhi bowlers for their herculean effort against the star-studded Rajasthan batting line-up.
