IPL 2020: DC reacts hilariously to Ashwin-Ponting photo after spinner’s warning to Finch

Ponting had said that he will not let Ashwin mankad any batsman while he plays for DC.

DC had some fun at expense of their coach Ricky Ponting and ace spinner R Ashwin | TwitterR Ashwin gained notoriety after his mankading of Jos Buttler in an IPL 2019 match between Kings XI Punjab and Rajasthan Royals. He was KXIP’s captain in that match and received both support and flak for his run out which some saw against the sportsman spirit.

Before the IPL 2020, Ashwin made the move to Delhi Capitals which is helmed by Ricky Ponting who is the head coach of the franchise and he made it clear that he won’t allow the Indian spinner to run out the non-striker via mankading. He said that the dismissal is against the spirit of the game and he will have a chat with Ashwin.

Ashwin also mentioned in a video that he had a chat with Ponting over the mankad dismissal and things were clear between them.

Well, it all came to head during the IPL 2020 match between DC and Royal Challengers Bangalore when Ashwin almost ran out non-striker Aaron Finch for leaving his crease before the ball even left his hand. Ashwin stopped and glared at Finch, giving him a warning.

The off-spinner took to Twitter and declared that it was first and final warning to all batsmen in the IPL 2020 and he will not hesitate to run them out henceforth.

Meanwhile, his franchise Delhi Capitals had some fun at the expense of him and coach Ricky Ponting as they posted a photo of the two in conversation before the match against RCB, saying, “Cricket images that precede legendary events.”

Then DC also posted the video of Ashwin’s warning to Finch and said, “2020, everytime you step out without a mask

It remains to be seen whether a batsman tests Ashwin’s resolution of running out the non-striker who leaves his crease early.
