Former India captain MS Dhoni surprised his fans by quitting international cricket last month. Although his admirers were sad, for comfort they looked up to him playing for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) in the upcoming IPL 2020 which begins from September 19.

Dhoni will be captaining the team in the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) and with Suresh Raina and Harbhajan opting out, his role will be more important this time around. However, it remains to be seen how long the 3-time IPL winning CSK skipper will continue playing given that he celebrated his 39th birthday in July this year.

Former India cricketer Aakash Chopra discussed Dhoni's retirement from IPL and three times title winners, CSK's future without him.

“The franchise will become half if Dhoni the captain and Dhoni the player is not there. So this problem will be there with this team,” Chopra said in his latest Youtube channel.

"At some stage, he will call it quits, then Chennai Super Kings will be at a huge loss even if not being half the side. Because of the way that team has been managed by Dhoni, no one can do that."

Aakash feels Dhoni will stay with the franchise even though he won't play for them after a time. “I do feel that whoever becomes the next captain or plays for CSK, will have MS Dhoni’s protection. Because Dhoni and Chennai Super Kings is a marriage made in heaven,” he further added.

”So he will be there, if not a captain, as a brand ambassador or mentor, he will be there in the Chennai Super Kings’ dugout is what I feel and they will need him,” he said.
