David Warner applauds Sunrisers Hyderabad’s gesture of donating INR 10 crore towards COVID-19 fight

Many cricketers have come forward to donate big amounts towards this fight.

Sunriser Hyderabad franchise | TwitterAs the whole nation of India is reeling under the stress of fighting a war against the Coronavirus pandemic, many institutions have been coming forward with donations towards the COVID-19 relief measures.

One such recent organization is the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), which is owned by the SUN TV group. In an official tweet from the franchise’s handle, SRH announced that it has donated INR 10 crore towards COVID-19 relief measures. “Sun TV Group (SunRisers Hyderabad) is donating Rs.10 Crores towards Corona COVID-19 relief measures” the tweeted read.

Till now many cricketers have come forward with monetary donations with Suresh Raina pledging Rs 52 lakh, Sachin Tendulkar and Sourav Ganguly donating INR 50 lakh each and Sunil Gavaskar donating Rs 59 lakhs. Earlier, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) announced a donation of Rs 51 crore towards PM-CARES.

"The outbreak of the Coronavirus (COVID-1) is first and foremost a public health emergency and the BCCI has a firm resolve that the nation gets all possible help to cope with the testing times. The BCCI will contribute to Hon’ble Prime Minister’s initiative which is a dedicated national fund (PM-CARES Fund) with the primary objective of dealing with emergency or distress situations,” BCCI said in a statement.

The IPL 2020’s organization is in a limbo as the cases in India of COVID positive patients grow exponentially. As per worldometers.info metrics, India has registered 5,916 cases so far with 178 deaths and 506 patients recovering.
