The preparations for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 have begun as the franchises have started to trade the players, who they are looking for to play in their team. Delhi Capitals is one such franchise which is trying to get Ajinkya Rahane who has been associated with Rajasthan Royals for many years to play for their side.

While talking to IANS, a source well-informed about the development revealed that, “Yes, DC is trying to get Rahane onboard, but too early to say if the deal will see the light of the day. A lot of things need to be taken care of before the dotted line is signed. RR's take on the whole issue can also not be discounted since he has been a huge ambassador for them. But yes, talks are on.

If DC manages to crack this deal, it will be a major plus for them as the franchise has tried to revamp their side ever since JSW Group came onboard in 2019.

Last year’s league saw Shikhar Dhawan coming to DC from Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and if Rahane joins the former for the next edition, it will be a perfect balance of youth and experience suggested the source.

The side has attempted to get the right balance between youth and experience and what Rahane brings to the table isn't something one needs to talk about. It is there for all to see. Dhawan and Ishant Sharma showed what having experienced heads in the dug-out means when the situation is tough and this could be a dream move if sealed,” he added.

Thus, if Rahane who has 3820 runs in 140 IPL matches opens with explosive left-hand opener Shikhar Dhawan with 4578 runs to his name in 159 IPL matches, it will be interesting to see how the franchise from Delhi performs.
