South African batsman David Miller is confident of doing well in the upcoming ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, starting from May 30 in England and Wales, brushing aside his poor form with the willow in the recently concluded Indian Premier League (IPL) 2019.

The 29-year-old middle-order batsman scored 213 runs in 10 innings at an average of 26.62 for the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) before being dropped for the final few games in IPL 2019, which raised concerns over his form in the coming showpiece ICC event, but Miller is confident of delivering in the World Cup 2019.

He also pointed out the fact that Virat Kohli also didn’t have a great outing in the IPL 2019, but that doesn't matter as the right-hander is very consistent and one of the best in the world, so, the Proteas side got to be on their toes when they will face India in a World cup match on 4 June.

Miller told IANS, "He (Kohli) is very consistent. He is one of the best in the world, so we got to be on our toes."

On his disappointing show in the IPL, Miller said, “There have been a couple of games where I haven't done so well. I have been training hard and doing the right things.”

However, the hard-hitting left-hander has admitted that he could have got more runs under his belt in IPL 2019 going into the World Cup, but stressed on the fact that the two tournaments are completely different and the confidence will play a key role in England.

Miller signed off by saying, “Yeah, it obviously would have helped had I done well in the IPL and took the form into the World Cup, but what you also do need to realize is that these are two different conditions, India and England. It is important to follow the routine and building the confidence, taking each game as it comes.”
