Mumbai Indians defeated the Chennai Super Kings in the finals of the IPL 2019 to become champions for a record fourth time and their captain Rohit Sharma also became the player with most IPL titles to his name – five.
Mumbai Indians batted first and put on 149 runs on board with Kieron Pollard making 41* and cameos from Hardik and De Kock. For CSK, Deepak Chahar picked three wickets, while Tahir and Harbhajan picked two each.
CSK’s chase was dependent on Shane Watson’s innings of 80, but the other batsmen failed miserably in supporting him during the chase. Lasith Malinga defended 9 runs in the last over and trapped Shardul Thakur LBW on the last ball of the 20th over to seal a 1-run win for MI.
