Quinton de Kock's sloppy glovework in the penultimate over of IPL 2019 final could have been very costly for his team. But luckily he ended up on the winning side as Mumbai Indians (MI) defeated Chennai Super Kings (CSK) by 1 run to clinch their fourth IPL title.

With 18 runs required from the last 2 overs, Jasprit Bumrah bowled the 19th over. He dismissed Dwayne Bravo in the second delivery and conceded just 5 runs till the penultimate ball. Ravindra Jadeja couldn’t connect Bumrah’s bouncer in the final ball as it went through to De Kock behind the stumps. Unfortunately, the Proteas wicketkeeper made a mess of the regulation take to give away four leg byes.

Usually, the bowlers get furious on teammates for such a costly mistake. However, Bumrah didn’t lose his cool in a tense moment. He went to De Kock and consoled the wicketkeeper by patting him on the back.

Bumrah’s kind gesture was captured on camera and the pacer was lauded by the cricket fans on social media.

In the last over off Lasith Malinga, Shane Watson and Jadeja took 4 runs from the first three deliveries before things turned around drastically. Watson (80 off 59 balls) got run out in the fourth ball while Jadeja took a double from the penultimate ball. But Malinga saved his best for the final delivery as he dismissed Shardul Thakur with a brute of a yorker and restricted CSK to 148/7, securing a nerve-wrecking 1-run win and the IPL 2019 title for MI.

For his outstanding bowling figures (4-0-14-2) under pressure situations, Jasprit Bumrah was adjudged Man-of-the-Match in the summit clash.
