WIPL 2019: Women cricketers show excitement about the T20 challenge on Twitter

The three captains - Mithali Raj, Harmanpreet Kaur and Smriti Mandhana | Rohit Jain Paras, The Hindu The Women’s T20 challenge 2019 will get underway on May 6th with IPL Supernovas, led by Harmanpreet Kaur, taking on IPL Trailblazers, led by Smriti Mandhana at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. The matches will be played from 6 to 11 May 2019, featuring the third team of IPL Velocity and captained by Mithali Raj.

The BCCI had last time experimented with a one-off women’s T20 match played at the Wankhede Stadium to see if a women’s versions of IPL is feasible or not. The match didn’t meet with good response, given its time of the afternoon and that only a limited amount of people were allowed in the stadium. But it received good enough response for the Indian board to organize a 3-team tournament this season.

Thought the tournament will not see any of the Australian superstars like Alyssa Healy, Meg Lanning, and Ellyse Perry participating, there are players form over four continents who are excited about this tournament taking place and showed their eagerness on the Twitter.
