IPL 2019: MI skipper Rohit Sharma calls CSK v MI fixtures as "El-Clasico" of IPL

MI have won 14 whereas CSK have won 11 out of total 25 matches played between the two

MI handed CSK their first loss of the season in their previous meeting at Wankhede Stadium

As the Indian Premier League (IPL) is coming at the backend of the league stage, every team wants to win all the upcoming matches to get a spot in top 4 and qualify for the playoffs. Mumbai Indians (MI) is no exception to that.

Rohit Sharma led Mumbai Indians take on the defending champions Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the latter’s home on Friday (26th April). Sharma compared the rivalry between MI and CSK with that of Barcelona and Real Madrid - two of the most popular teams in Spanish top-flight football league which is also known as the La Liga as he called the fixture the “EL-Clasico” of cricket in his tweet as shown below.

Barcelona and Real Madrid are two most successful teams of Spanish La Liga, similarly, in IPL, MI and CSK are two of the most successful teams with three IPL titles each to their name.

The two teams have had some legends like Sachin Tendulkar, Shaun Pollock, Zaheer Khan and many more playing for MI whereas Matthew Hayden, Michael Hussey, Stephan Fleming and many more playing for CSK.

The Mumbai based franchise has a good record against the men in Yellow as in MI have managed to win 14 out of total 25 matches played between the two. MI handed CSK their first loss of the season (IPL 2019 season) in their previous meeting at Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai.

As MI is coming off a loss against a struggling Rajasthan Royals (RR) and is looking to cement their position in the top 4, it will be interesting to see which team comes out to be on top at the Chepauk.
