With 16 runs required off 9 balls, you would expect your bowlers to bowl with discipline, and fielders, they can't let the opposition steal runs. But seems like Rajasthan Royals (RR), who were in a do-or-die situation in IPL, don't value runs much.
In a contest against Delhi Capitals (DC) at Jaipur on Monday, RR saw fielding error which cost them extra runs. It was hilarious to watch but not if you are sitting in Royals dugout. In a crunch situation when every run was important, RR allowed Delhi to score with ease.
On the fourth ball of the penultimate over, Dhawal Kulkarni bowled a bouncer to Rishabh Pant, who was batting on 63. Pant did well to get a piece of willow on the ball, but it wasn't from the middle and it resulted in the ball going straight up in the air.
Luckily, there was no fielder to catch it, but Stuart Binny was there on time to stop the ball. Coming from deep square-leg, Binny couldn't stop the ball and with no one behind his back, it gave DC extra run.
Well, the fun doesn't stop here. Ben Stokes took it to himself and went towards the ball only to make the incident funnier. He collected the ball but while trying to throw the ball, it slipped out of his hand and gave Pant and co an extra run. The all-rounder couldn't help but smile after the error.
