IPL 2019: RR v DC- Cricket fraternity lauds Ajinkya Rahane as his 105* takes RR to 191

Rahane's first IPL century came against RCB seven years ago.

Rahane and Smith added 130 runs for the second wicket | IANSThe 40th match of the IPL 2019 saw Rajasthan Royals take full advantage of batting first on a batting beauty against Delhi Capitals. DC were looking to continue their winning form, while Rajasthan looking to break the hoodoo at home.

DC captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to field first and had immediate success. Sanju Samson was sent back run out without facing a ball, while Ben Stokes (8) and Turner, who made his third consecutive golden duck in IPL and fifth consecutive duck in last five T20 innings, showed less intent for making runs.

RR’s innings was all about Steve Smith’s 50 off 32 balls with 8 fours and a brilliant century from Ajinkya Rahane, his second in the IPL, after seven years of his first. The duo added 130 runs for the second wicket.

He got help from Ishant Sharma, who had dropped him early in the innings. Rahane made 105* in 63 balls with 11 fours and 3 sixes and took the team to a mighty total of 191/6.

Cricket fraternity was amazed at this sudden aggressive innings from Rahane and praised the RR opener on Twitter.
