MS Dhoni was at his breathtaking best in the IPL 2019 match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Chennai Super Kings at Chinnaswamy Stadium on Sunday (April 21).

Chasing 162 to win, CSK were reeling at 28/4 after Dale Steyn and Umesh Yadav removed Shane Watson (5), Suresh Raina (0), Faf du Plessis (5) and Kedar Jadhav (9) inside the powerplay. Afterwards, Dhoni added 55 runs for the fifth wicket with Ambati Rayudu (29) to steady the sheep. Despite wickets tumbling from the one end, the CSK skipper didn’t lose hope and kept on fighting for his team till the last ball.

Needing 26 from the last over, Dhoni turned back the clock and smashed Umesh for 4, 6, 6, 2 and 6 to put Chennai on top. However, the CSK captain failed to connect the last ball as Parthiv Patel’s direct-hit ran Shardul Thakur out and sealed the victory for RCB by just 1 run.

Dhoni might have failed to take his team over the line, but the fans on Twitter were left speechless by his jaw-dropping knock of 84 not out in just 48 deliveries with 5 fours and 7 sixes. While many calling for the former India captain to be made the Prime Minister of the country, some also terming him as a freak and the God of Cricket.
