IPL 2019: DC v KXIP – Iyer and Dhawan fifties lead DC to 5-wicket win over KXIP

Shikhar Dhawan's fifty laid foundation for DC win | IANSThe 37th match of the IPL 2019 saw Delhi Capitals go against Kings XI Punjab in the Feroz Shah Kotla Stadium in Delhi. DC was on a roll with a couple of victories behind them, while KXIP came looking for momentum.

DC’s Shreyas Iyer won the toss and chose to chase keeping the dew and slowness of the pitch in mind. KXIP put on 163/7 on board which all came thanks to 37-ball 69 from Chris Gayle which included 6 fours and 5 sixes. Also came cameos from Mandeep Singh (30) and Harpreet Brar (20*). Sandeep Lamichhane picked 3/40, while Kagiso Rabada and Akshar Patel picked two wickets each.

Though Prithvi Shaw was run out unfortunately for 13, Dhawan more than made up for his partner with 56 off 41 balls with seven fours and one six. Rishabh Pant disappointed again, but skipper Iyer anchored one end with a marvelous 58* and Colin Ingram, back into the team after a short break to see his newborn, took the DC to the win with 5 wickets in hand. Hardus Viljoen picked the two wickets to fall for 39 runs, Shami picked one, while Ashwin and co faced a drought in wicket column.
