IPL 2019: WATCH – Colin Ingram and Akshar Patel combine to take an amazing catch to cut short Gayle’s onslaught

Ingram's brilliant effort ended Gayle's innings for 69 runs.

Colin Ingram | ScreenshotKings XI Punjab traveled to Delhi to face the Capitals in the Feroz Shah Kotla for the possibility of earning a win given DC’s recent form at their home ground. KXIP was asked to bat first on a slow and turning pitch and all depended on Chris Gayle.

Gayle didn’t disappoint as he went hammer and tongs at the DC bowlers, hitting them to all parts of the Kotla ground. Gayle was severe against Ishant Sharma and the two Delhi Capitals' spinners in Sandeep Lamichhane and Amit Mishra, even hitting a humungous 101-meter six. Gayle got to his fifty in just 25 balls and things were looking ominous for DC, as he charged to 69 off 36 balls with five sixes and 6 fours.

It finally took an awe-inspiring effort from Colin Ingram to send Gayle back to the pavilion. Gayle had hit Lamichhane for a six off the first ball of his 3rd over and in an effort to replicate the shot, was caught at the deep mid-wicket boundary by Ingram. Gayle’s mistimed shot was caught at the boundary by Ingram, but he had to throw it in the air, as momentum took him over the boundary. His back-handed push to the ball found Akshar Patel, who completed the catch.

Here is the video of the catch:
