The Purple Cap holder of IPL 2019, Kagiso Rabada is nailing his pacy yorkers and keeping batsmen like Andre Russell at bay. Fast bowlers have used the yorker and the slower delivery to good effect in T20 cricket nowadays.

Veteran bowler Lasith Malinga, currently India’s best bowler Jasprit Bumrah and DJ Bravo with his slower yorker, have earned their wickets bowling that delivery with deadly accuracy. Joining their elite list is Kagiso Rabada as he has bowled brilliantly for the Delhi Capitals in the twelfth edition of the IPL.

The 23-year-old bowled the Super Over against Kolkata Knight Riders and won them the game. He cleaned up the dangerous Andre Russell with a perfect full delivery that took out his middle stump.

While talking to CricketNext, he talked about the importance of such deliveries. He said, “You got to plan it well before executing it. And if you bowl it well, you got a big chance of taking a wicket. In the super over vs KKR for instance, I knew my yorkers were coming well during the game, so I decided to back it when I was called up to bowl the Super Over. I think more bowlers should bowl it because it’s a very effective delivery.

With more than half of the IPL coming to an end, the national cricket boards are giving deadlines to the players to return back home in order to rest well ahead of the World Cup 2019. Most of the internationals will be going back to their respective countries by the end of April.

The national cricket board of South Africa, CSA (Cricket South Africa) wanted the fast bowlers to rest in order to avoid injuries and go into the mega event with fresh mind and bodies.

Rabada said, “CSA (Cricket South Africa) wanted us, bowlers, to come back from the IPL to be able to get some rest and get ready for the World Cup. We’ll see what happens. But I think playing four overs is not much of a risk, but at the same time, you never know.

The precautionary measure would be to take some rest especially these days, as fast bowlers are quite the talk of the cricket world these days – preserving fast bowling as an art and injury prevention and management. So the precaution would be to pull them out a bit early,” he added.
