Mumbai Indians (MI) is one of the most successful teams in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Rohit Sharma-led MI has been crowned champions three times in 2013, 2015 and 2017.
In a practice session before the Mumbai Indians-Kings XI Punjab fixture at Wankhede Stadium, the MI skipper suffered a muscle-spasm in his right leg which made him miss an IPL match for the first time after playing 133 matches on the trot. Kieron Pollard was appointed as the MI skipper and Siddhesh Lad made his IPL debut in absence of Rohit.
When asked about Rohit’s injury status, Mumbai Indians Director of Cricket Operations, Zaheer Khan said, “He is definitely available, available for selection and he is very confident, so that is a very positive sign right now for us. He is going to practice and get a better gauge of things, but we are pretty confident (of him playing).”
