The 25th match of the IPL 2019 saw Rajasthan Royals host Chennai Super Kings in their own backyard of Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur. CSK had handed RR a defeat when they had toured Chennai.
MS Dhoni asked RR to bat first after winning the toss. The RR team had made two changes, bringing in Riyan Parag and Jaydev Unadkat in the team, while CSK brought in Shardul Thakur and Mitchell Santner for this match.
Ajinkya Rahane has had a torrid time with the bat for the RR in this tournament, despite making a fifty and his bad time continued as he was dismissed by Deepak Chahar for 14. However, the incident became famous for MS Dhoni almost missing the chance to opt for DRS for the LBW call, which he, of course, got right. Deepak Chahar had to convince Dhoni a lot to opt for the DRS, as Rahane was one the move while playing the shot and ball had hit the thigh and the umpire Bruce Oxenford had given it not out.
Dhoni finally gave into Chahar’s request and opted for DRS, when the timer on the screen read 0 seconds left. The DRS review showed that there was no bat involved on the legal delivery and the ball was shattering into the leg stump. The umpire on the field had to change his decision to out and Dhoni was all smiles to see his opposite number go back to the pavilion.
